The multilingual chat assistant is available through gov.gr in 24 certified EU languages and in Albanian, and was presented by Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou and Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis at the foreign ministry.
Regardless of where they call from, EU residents may access mAigov through a cellphone, a tablet, or a desktop/laptop, either by typing in their question or by voice. It guides the user to the right service, while it also provides an evalulation of its effectiveness at the end. Questions it can answer include: What do I need for a residence permit in Greece? How can I travel with my pet? How can I open a business in Greece?

“Every day there is an upgrade to the quality of services to citizens is an important day for the adminstrative system of our country,” Gerapetritis said, underlining that “Greece and the Greek government stand by a Greek, wherever they are.”
Papastergiou said that mAigov had so far carried out over 300,000 chats, which made the e-Governance ministry proud and a pioneer at European level, contributing to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ dream of a country that is extroverted and friendly. The digital assistant can be used by Greeks abroad and by citizens who do not speak Greek but need information on services and processes in the Greek public sector.
In addition, mAigov also speaks Chinese or Arabic, and provides “an excellent start to show […] abroad the great work being done in Greece in recent years,” he added. The system will also be able in the future to respond vocally to any language it is spoken to.
mAigov is linked, to the present, to 1,670 services provided by gov.gr and to 3,296 administrative procedures entered on the National Register of Administrative Procedures ‘Mitos’.
